At Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan, our orthodontists do see more than “just” kids! Our board-certified orthodontists love to offer orthodontic services to adults, too. With everything available under one roof, it can be convenient for your family to access quality and efficient care in the same place, same time as your children (with zero extra referrals).

Advantages of Adult Orthodontics

Enhancing your bite alignment and esthetics as an adult provides multiple benefits, such as a decreased risk of:

  • TMJ disorder
  • Worn, broken tooth enamel
  • Periodontal disease
  • Tooth decay

Plus, a healthy, aligned bite is less likely to experience bone loss and detrimental age-related changes in your facial profile. Having a beautiful smile can also help increase social and professional confidence and help improve your photogenic status for photographs and zoom calls.

Types of Orthodontic Treatment Services We Offer

Depending on your unique smile needs and personal preferences, our orthodontists provide three different methods to choose from when considering treatment:

Clear Aligners—These removable, transparent aligners straighten your teeth without brackets and wires. Enjoy more flexibility with meals and home care. Your orthodontists will program all of your tooth movements and design your treatment strategy ahead of time. While there may be some nearly invisible parts attached to your teeth, the clear aligners are hard to notice. Comfortable, convenient (we can do many appointments via zoom once you begin) and effective, custom orthodontic treatment with Invisalign aligners is a very good choice today. All you have to do is change your aligners out as directed and wear them for a minimum of 22 hours per day.

Clear, custom Braces—Tooth-colored, 3D printed custom Lightforce braces work a bit like Invisalign and a bit like traditional braces. Your treatment plan is laid out in a custom manner just for you on a computer program (just like Invisalign) prior to manufacturing braces that are made just for you. The braces fit your teeth perfectly and have special features that help to shorten treatment time. These Lightforce braces are a modern and discrete solution that is ideal for adult treatment.

Self-ligating Braces—These reduced-tension traditional braces allow for improved comfort and enhanced rate of tooth movement, especially at the beginning of your treatment.

We have the ability to treat all patients with compassion and individuality, including those that may have special needs as we have treatment rooms available for children who require additional privacy and customized care options.
