An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed a graduate program accredited by CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) in the specialty of orthodontics. A dentist who graduates from a specialty program becomes an orthodontic specialist who is eligible to become board certified through the voluntary examination process of The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Completion of the certification process is a demonstration of an orthodontist’s pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence.
The certification process involves a thorough written examination covering all areas of information on which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful passage of the written examination allows an orthodontist to present treated cases which will be evaluated by expert examiners of the Board during a Clinical Examination. Certification is now awarded for a time-limited period and orthodontists must be re-examined on a periodic basis to retain the board certified status. Through this accomplishment, an orthodontist has earned the title of Diplomate of The American Board of Orthodontics, which is the only orthodontic certifying board recognized by the American Dental Association.
Board certification is something that our doctors take very seriously. Drs. Ari and Dr. AJ undertook and successfully passed this rigorous certification process to help demonstrate to patients that they are serious about and dedicated to providing exceptional, high quality care. As orthodontists, they have specialized training beyond dental school, and they stand by their work with extreme pride.
Drs. Ari & AJ hold board certification because they feel that the art and science of orthodontic treatment is a privilege to provide and they want the communities they serve to feel confident that the treatment you or your child will receive with our orthodontic team will be special from the very first visit until treatment is complete!
