You are never too old to have great teeth or to create an amazing smile. Invisalign is the perfect solution for adults, as well as kids and teens, to achieve that goal. Straight teeth create a fantastic smile, but they also help with the overall health of your mouth by creating a healthy, even bite that is not prone to wear and tear. Properly aligned teeth can reduce your risk for tooth decay and even gum disease. Gums that are healthy and tight fit more securely around the teeth and allow for the strongest defense against periodontal problems.

Invisalign continues to trend as an emerging solution for orthodontic tooth movement as they innovate and create technologies that make tooth movement with clear aligners better and better each year. Invisalign has many core strengths as a solution for tooth movement, in the right hands and for the right problems.

It is easy to use with no food restrictions or hard to clean places Discomfort tends to be slightly less than with braces. Emergencies are extremely uncommon and visits can be spaced out further requiring less trips to the orthodontist to achieve the same result. It is very socially friendly for older students and adults. Invisalign straightens teeth using a custom-made series of aligners that are created for each individual and the unique structure of their teeth. Invisalign is designed to be invisible. The trays are made of smooth clear plastic and are worn over your teeth. Patients typically advance through their series of custom designed and manufactured aligners at a pace of approximately 7 days per aligner. Clear aligners are worn 22-24 hours a day and only taken out for meals.

Maintaining Invisalign

Invisalign is easy to clean by removing and brushing and rinsing trays. Aligner trays need to be changed somewhere between every 7 days and 2 weeks, depending upon the complexity of tooth movement and patient compliance. Orthodontist visits are usually every 8 to 10 weeks compared with every 6 weeks with braces. There are no issues with food or difficulty eating. However, they must be removed and replaced before and after eating, and the patient should ideally brush after eating each time before putting them back in to avoid discoloration of aligners or teeth. You can clean the aligners simply by brushing them and rinsing them with lukewarm water.

Adult Orthodontics

Adults make up almost half the population of orthodontist patients. It is no longer “just for kids.” Everyone wants to achieve a youthful smile. Today people are living longer and there are great benefits to preserving our teeth and creating a lifelong smile that we are not self-conscious about.

If you are interested in Invisalign, please ask us about your options. The name of our office often misleads our parents that our orthodontic clinic, like the pediatric clinic, only sees children. That is simply not the case! Our orthodontists love seeing adults and complete extensive additional training with clear aligners. We take pride in offering some of the most efficient and satisfying experiences with Invisalign clear aligner therapy in our community.
