As we move into the holiday season we would like to send an important note for all patients: be aware of expiring insurance benefits.
We encourage patients to take advantage of insurance benefits if they are due for a cleaning or any dental work because the benefits often do not roll over from year to year, so using them before the calendar year ends is advised.
This is especially vital to patients who have scheduled procedures that may roll over from one year to the next as any benefits remaining this year can help pay for the start of the procedure and next years benefits kick in to help pay for the remainder. This is common for multi-appointment procedures when it may be possible to space out visits. If someone needed work done on a tooth and was scheduled to come in during the month of October, a professional could do some work that month and then the patient could potentially return in January or February to finalize the restoration. Barring an immediate danger or an uncomfortable situation for the patient, this would allow for insurance benefits to be more productive over time.
