Technological advances are always occurring in the field of dentistry and the specialty of orthodontics. In the past, patients with large overbites were treated with the dreaded headgear we always hear about.

One tool that orthodontists use in today’s world is the Forsus appliance, manufactured by 3M (yes, the post it note people).

The Forsus (or Forsus spring) is an update in the orthodontics world that has made things like headgear almost obsolete. “There’s been a major shift in how overbites have been treated the past 25 years,” says Dr. AJ Ker.

The pediatric dentists treat children from newborn to 18 years of age while our orthodontists provide care for both children and adults, including being an Invisalign preferred provider. The ability to treat all special needs patients reaches beyond our facility, which has treatment rooms available for children who require additional privacy. Valued hospital affiliations allow dental services to be performed at DMC Children’s Hospital and St. John Providence Health System when needed.
