This year, during the week of March 1-7, the doctors at Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan were proud and happy to recognize all of our wonderful staff members during Dental Assistant’s Recognition Week, or DARW. This is a very special week at our office because we feel it is very important to recognize the significant efforts our team of dental assistants make throughout the year to help us provide great and predictable dental care for the community we serve.
We are exceptionally proud of the type of office staff we have assembled through the years because so many of them have made a career of serving our patients and our community. The doctors take pride in the fact that so many of our staff has maintained longevity with us, some totaling 40+ years!! The consistency of our staff helps us make sure our dental care and patient experiences are consistent.
The special week, which is designated by the American Dental Assistants Association along with the American Dental Association, the Canadian Dental Association and the Canadian Dental Assistants’ Association, provides recognition dental assistants who work in any capacity of a dental office.
The theme for DARW 2015 was “Embracing the changes of a profession.” The theme will exist through at least 2016. One goal of the week was for the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) to provide information for people that may be considering a career in dentistry and the association uses a variety of media platforms to help spread this message.
We try to say thank you to all of our amazing staff on a regular basis but we go a few extra steps in rewarding our professional staff during this week each year. We celebrated our dental assistants by having special food in the office during the week, giving away dinner certificates, event tickets, and target gift cards throughout the week.
