This is a story about ME, your first tooth! It is also a story about your mouth because that’s where I came from and where I still live today.
It all started before you were even born! I was formed under the gums in your mouth just as you were being formed inside your mommy’s tummy.
One day, I decided to pop out of your gums! You were about 6 months old! I made your smile look so cute! People even took pictures of YOU just because of ME!
Then you had your first birthday, which was about the time when I started going to the dentist! The dentist is a friendly doctor that helps to take care of all of your teeth, including me.
I feel like I have a pretty important job in making your life great. The other teeth and I help you eat, talk, and have a beautiful smile! That’s why we deserve a special doctor all to ourselves.
And, that’s why you have to take such good care of us by brushing and flossing between us each and every day.
I felt a little lonely at first, but not for long. Very soon after I came, a tooth right next to me popped up! It was so cool to have a friend show up!
Then two more teeth came! We grew in to become a great big family in your mouth!
That was really awesome because now you could eat more fun foods. Fun foods are foods that taste good and don’t hurt us! The foods we like the best are fruits, vegetables, water and milk, so be sure to give us lots of those!
If you have any questions about us, your dentist would love to answer them. They are very good at talking to kids and letting them know how to take great care of us.
Going to the dentist can be a lot of fun for us, because we know that we will get really clean. And, it’s a lot of fun for you too. You get to sit in a fun chair that moves up and down, wear sunglasses inside, and see lots of nice people like the dentists, hygienists, and assistants that take care of us! We can’t wait for our next trip to Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan.
